What We Do
We’re a group of adults who like to play make-believe in front of a live audience.
We use audience suggestions to create entirely improvised short sketches or longer narratives (depending on the format du jour). Nothing has been planned out, rehearsed, or written, with all dialogue said for the first time and characters created as the audience watches.
Some of it is even funny.
Our Formats
Unhinged Basic
Unhinged creates scenes based on audience answers to dating app questions. The result is 95% more successful than most first dates.
Unhinged Unhinged
Unhinged creates never-before-seen improvised plays, based on familiar genres, such as Holiday Hallmark Movies or Romcoms.

Our Mission
Marin Unhinged is a women-led arts collective committed to bringing people together through improvisational theater. A diverse group, we live, work, and perform in Marin County—most often in downtown San Rafael, where we are part of the revitalization of San Rafael’s West End. We believe improv should be inclusive, participatory, and accessible to all—that’s why we offer sliding scale ticket prices to ensure everyone can join the fun. We partner with local organizations including the Marin Society of Artists, Zipline Improv, and Studio Fourth Street. As improvisers and artists, we’re building connections and celebrating the vibrant arts scene in Marin.
